Judy Whitney – Fitness Director
Judy Whitney is the owner of Winchester Aerobics and has been teaching fitness to children and adults for over thirty years. Her achievements many, she is certified by ACE as a Group Fitness Instructor, as well as a Personal Trainer with specialty certificates in Pilates Matwork and Yoga. Judy, a teacher by training, holds a master’s degree in special education from Boston College and is naturally drawn to work with youth performing arts groups as the principal choreographer. She teaches popular fitness classes at Jenks Center, Mount Vernon House and Lexington Community Center. “We strive for physical as well as emotional wellness. Some of our clients are athletes and although they are in great shape, they benefit from Pilates stretching and the mental relaxation of Yoga meditation. We also welcome the client who is new to exercise and provide modifications to meet their individual needs. We respect each and every person in our program and will help you to meet your fitness and wellness goals.” "What a workout! Gail LaRocca – Group Fitness Instructor Gail LaRocca started out taking aerobics from Judy Whitney and joined her as an instructor in the late 1980s. ACE certified as a Group Instructor, Gail has additional certifications in Pilates Matwork and Yoga. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and earned an MBA from Boston College. Gail lectures on the culture and wildlife of East Africa LaRoccaAfrica.com, directs a nonprofit water foundation LifeWaterAfrica.com, and is an interior/exterior house painter. Gail is the 2010 recipient of the Massachusetts 100 Unsung Heroines award for her work in Africa. “To stay motivated and committed to a regular schedule of exercise, I need a group setting. Many participants feel the same way. By combining tried and true exercises and the latest fitness trends, our participants are invigorated in a strong and enthusiastic workout. The variety of classes, camaraderie and non-competitive environment keep people coming back.” "You can tell Gail loves the music and the excitement of shared movement.
